Did you know the Hikvision and Dahua and the number one and two manufacturers of CCTV in the world? Both offer great quality products for a very economical price. The technical support and tools offered by these two companies convince us to stick with these two winners. Most of the IP cameras are ONVIF compliant meaning they will work with most quality NVR manufacturers in the world.
Hikvision offers a variety of firmware updates, software and tools at their website. They also offer news on product releases and technical specification and manuals on their existing products.
Dahua too offers much of the same with firmware, software, manuals and product spec sheets at their website as well.
We are often asked which is the superior machine. This is a difficult question to answer. It’s almost asking what is the best or your favorite color. You may like pink but I doubt most people would purchase a pink vehicle. Dahua and Hikvision both offer excellent products with lots of bells and whistles. Dahua seems to be the best product for remote storage of time-lapse video. Hikvision offers the easiest interface. Dahua seems to be faster when accessing on the network. Hikvision offers many OEM channels where you can purchase Hikvision products without the Hikvision label at a lower cost. While the products are not exactly the same, they are both consistently high quality with excellent warranties.
Speaking of warranties, Dahua offers a 5 year warranty for their name brand products including NVRs, DVRs, IP cameras and CVI-HD cameras. Hikvision provides a 3 year warranty on their products. My experience is that you won’t need a warranty as these companies make a very good quality and last for years beyond the warranty date.
